Larry Dunn’s Anthology of Earth, Wind & Fire will be presented in a live concert performance on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 8:00 PM at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center. The program features music from Earth, Wind & Fire performed with musicians under Dunn’s direction. Additional concert dates will be announced.
Dunn first joined Earth, Wind & Fire at just eighteen years old, stepping into the band during its most defining period and serving as the group’s original keyboardist and Music Director. His work helped shape the harmonic architecture and live presentation of a band whose blend of funk, soul, jazz, R&B, and pop would influence generations of musicians and listeners around the world.
Among Dunn’s contributions is the multi-chart-topping “Shining Star,” which he co-wrote with Maurice White and Philip Bailey. The song reached No. 1 on both the Pop and R&B charts and has since been recognized as a milestone of American popular music. Earth, Wind & Fire also earned acclaim for “Got to Get You into My Life,” a Beatles classic reimagined by the band into a crossover hit that expanded its mainstream reach. Earth, Wind & Fire’s broader catalog continues to find new life through radio, streaming, film and television soundtracks, and cultural events, cementing the music’s multi-generational presence.
Reflecting on the era in an interview with AGENDA magazine, Dunn recalled the deep musical chemistry within the band, saying, “I joined Earth, Wind & Fire at 18… People used to tell me, ‘You were so instrumental in Earth, Wind & Fire — you were the sound.’ I always said, ‘Slow your role. We had so many great musicians in EWF.’ But when a keyboard player walks, it is a lot of the sound.” He also spoke about the early success of “Shining Star,” noting, “That was awesome. I was about 21–22 years old… to look at ‘Shining Star’ now — No. 1 R&B, No. 1 Pop — that was huge.”
For Dunn, the return to performance comes with a sense of continuity rather than nostalgia. Throughout the years, he has continued to compose, record, and produce music, including recent studio work on new recordings. As Dunn noted in the AGENDA feature, “Music has been very good to me… and it’s something that puts a smile on people’s faces. If that’s happening, then I’m grateful.”
The February 7 concert also positions Dunn’s work in conversation with the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, a venue known for presenting high-caliber musical performances in an intimate setting. For audiences, the evening offers the opportunity to experience the music not only as cultural memory, but as a living body of work presented by one of its original architects.
Dunn is an original member of Earth, Wind & Fire and has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is a recipient of the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as countless other achievements and awards.
